Pornhub Faces Lawsuit Over Data Privacy Breaches
A class action lawsuit accuses the popular adult site Pornhub of improperly sharing users’ personal data with Google for targeted ads. Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on April 19 by several California law firms on behalf of “Jane Doe”, the lawsuit alleges serious privacy violations.

According to the lawsuit, Pornhub collects extensive user data—including browser and operating system details, device information, video viewing choices, and even IP addresses—and uses this data to tailor advertisements specifically to users. When users log into their Google accounts, Pornhub allegedly tracks their activity across the web using a unique user ID, then shares this data with advertisers to enable more precise marketing strategies.
The complaint asserts that Pornhub does this without user consent, misleading users by claiming the data is anonymized before sharing. This practice potentially violates the Video Privacy Protection Act, which requires explicit, informed consent from users before sharing such data. The lawsuit seeks injunctive relief to stop Pornhub from continuing this practice, demands destruction of the data already collected, and calls for compensation for affected users, citing damages, restitution, and legal costs.
Pornhub’s parent company, Aylo Holdings, has not commented on the ongoing litigation but faces serious accusations of breaching privacy norms. The case underlines the critical importance of user privacy, especially in sensitive contexts involving personal data related to sexual preferences.

Updated Community Guidelines: Clearer Guidance for Real Streaming Situations
We’ve updated the Community Guidelines to make them clearer, more transparent, and easier to use in everyday streaming situations.

We know it isn’t always easy to understand how a rule applies to a specific moment on camera. The updated Guidelines include clearer explanations and brand-new enforcement notes for relevant policy areas. These notes answer questions we hear most often.
Alongside these practical explanations, the update highlights a key principle behind moderation: context matters. We review the whole situation rather than isolated words, objects, or moments in a broadcast. A single unverified report does not trigger enforcement on its own.
Read the updated Community Guidelines to get a better sense of the platform’s boundaries and what to expect from moderation.
We’ve updated the Guidelines with your experience in mind. Tell us what you think in the community Discord and follow us on Telegram for quick platform news.
