Have the regulators declared a war on Porn?

The majority of adults agree that consent and some form of verification is the way forward. However, with many countries holding differing laws with regard what is and isn’t acceptable, some have employed other methods to screen content.

In the meantime, Tobias Schmid, director of State Media Authority of North West Rhine has recently unveiled and AI tool called KIVI. This surveillance technique scans all online content to determine which images are not compliant within the law.

One can only wonder at the list of instructions within the code. ‘Ones fingertips (including the fingernails, whether they be real or false) may not be touching the labia through clothing or be within 2 cms of the sexual organ!’

Some may consider this to be way beyond what is required in this day and age and there will no doubt be numerous arguments about the definitions of obscenity. It is worrisome that this kind of technology is to be used primarily to stop porn, rather than prevent obscene material reaching our screens.

The German tech news site NetzPolitik.org reported that Schmidt has called the tool a “fantastic combination” which will allow him to move forward with his obsessive quest.

KIVI, which was developed by a Berlin based Condat under Schmidt’s guidance, is currently surveying images, texts, speech and videos on all websites, as well as most of the well-known social media apps.

One does wonder just how far these types of apps will go, especially when they are seemingly under the direction of one individual. Will they end up controlling the laws and telling the governments what is and isn’t within the law?

Go.Cam: The Open Source Age Verification System Certified by KJM (Germany) and ACC Scheme (UK)

Go.Cam, the French age verification solutions, has just received two major certifications: KJM (youth protection in Germany) and the ACC Scheme (compliance certification in the UK). This marks a significant achievement in online age verification.

“As more and more websites are being blocked for failing to comply with regulatory demands, Go.Cam offers a simple and robust solution, now recognized by two of Europe’s leading regulators,” says the Marketing Director at GSI Developpement.

What is Go.Cam?

Go.Cam is an open-source age verification system designed to protect minors while maintaining user privacy. It provides a secure and simple way to verify age through either facial recognition or ID verification. Tests show an error margin of about 2 years in age detection, making it one of the most reliable solutions on the market.

Why Choose Go.Cam?

Open Source: Transparent, customizable, and can be hosted directly on the merchant’s servers while retaining its certifications if the code remains unmodified.

Easy Age Verification:

  • Facial Recognition: A quick selfie is enough to verify the user’s age.
  • ID Document Submission: For users detected as under 25, identity documents are required for additional security.
Privacy Protection: The AI runs locally on the user’s device, ensuring no personal data is transmitted, guaranteeing double anonymity.
